Whats is DELF/DALF
Before you starting preparing your documents to study in France, the first document you need to have is DELF/DALF.
DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) or Advanced Diploma of French Language and DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) or Diploma in French Language Studies are French proficiency certifications for non-native speakers of French awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the competency in the French language. Students who want to study in France will and are non-native speakers will be required to pass one of these exams before being admitted.
What do DALF/DELF comprise of?
DALF/DELF consists of six diplomas in total which can in fact be taken independently. DELF is more basic than DALF and DALF is a higher level of the certifications. This categorization is done below.
Based on each candidate’s level, one can take any of the levels without having to do the previous levels.
Basic Level
The DELF A1 and A2 is considered the basic level for beginners of French.
Independent User Level
DELF B1 and B2 is for users who can maintain independence and handle a discussion with peers
Proficient User Level
DALF C1 and C2 is considered the most advanced of these diplomas. Candidates who pass the C1 and C2 exams can already express themselves very well and spontaneously and are capable of using the French language for academic purposes.
